How many people can really have a vacation as described above?
Not for me, at least.
For the past few decades of my working life, my vacations, no doubt with pay granted, but always supplemented with phone calls from office, customers, bosses ....

Okay, the advice is when you go on vacation, assign someone to take over your duties, to act on your behalf.
Fine, that can be done, but this someone is always your sub-ordinate and will need you to keep your mobile on 24-hours, just in case something important needs your attention....
Then, the bosses will say, if you are vacationing within the country, please be accessible on your mobile... Sure, boss, no problem...
I think the only time I can really enjoy a vacation as described in the dictionary, is when I'm on unlimited vacation, that is, after my retirement, but, bear in mind .... no pay granted.
Why do I sound so sombre?
My motto is supposed to be Sweet Happy Life.
Cheer up, start packing my luggage, my toiletries, my credit cards, bring out those old sneakers & leave those high-heels on the shoe-rack to collect dust, where are my very dark sun-glasses, can I still fit into the swimming suit, do people still wear swimming suit, should I go swimming under the sun after all the money spent on the rejuvenating cream to keep my complexion fair & young, perhaps we should go somewhere with fresh cool air?
Last but not least, don't forget to pack hub's & son's things ...
Hooray! Time for a Vacation!
